Changing The Face of Assisted Living

Dwayne likes to refer to Aegis as the “Four Seasons of Assisted Living.” With beautifully designed buildings, diverse and evolving programs that enhance residents’ longevity, and a devoted staff, Aegis is vastly different than other facilities in this industry. Using innovative methods, Dwayne inspires his employees to strive for and deliver exceptional service. It’s a big mission, and it’s what sets Aegis apart. Company culture is not a buzzword for Dwayne – it is the DNA with which he built Aegis Living.

Aegis really does put employees first. The staff here enjoy being at work every day, and the residents are so appreciative of what we do. It is fulfilling and rewarding to know that we are making a difference in the lives of our residents every day!

Care Manager,

Award-Winning Team

Dwayne proudly dedicates the awards that Aegis has won over the years to his devoted staff members.

Made up of individuals with expertise, authenticity, and compassion, Dwayne actively leads the executive team in the company’s growth, honoring the strengths of the employees, inspiring innovation, and focusing on what is best for the residents, bringing peace of mind to the families that trust them.

The Aegis Difference

Treat Them Like Family

Aegis is a family-owned and operated business where trust and loving relationships mean everything. From humble beginnings, Aegis started with three employees and a grand intention of redefining the senior living industry. When Dwayne’s mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and moved into one of his communities the mission at Aegis became personal for the entire Clark Family.

Employee-First Focus

Dwayne understands that happy employees mean happy residents. His determined approach to using company culture to create the best results has won the hearts of his residents, their families, and his dedicated staff.

We Continue to Grow

With great success and innovation, comes great demand. Aegis Living continues to grow with grand opening new locations and breaking ground on others on the West coast. We look forward to what the future holds for Aegis Living.

Dwayne & Aegis Give Back

Dwayne and his staff all dedicate time and financial resources to help the organizations listed below. Giving back to others in this way reflects Dwayne’s commitment to building healthy, happy communities.

LifeWire is the largest domestic violence program in the state of Washington, serving 91,000 victims and their children since 1991. Still, for every person who gets help, 15 are turned away. Aegis Living became involved with this organization several years ago when one of their Executive Directors was killed by her husband in a domestic violence tragedy.

During Winterfest, the corporate office resembles a department store. Over the course of a day, staff come in and “shop” for items donated and purchased by the company for them. Hundreds of Aegis Living employees are provided with free clothing, toys, and new shoes.

Dwayne Clark and Aegis Living established the Potato Soup Foundation with the principal purpose of helping Aegis Living staff and their families in extreme times of need. The foundation has helped people with emergency medical treatment, emergency housing, funeral expenses, and a variety of other crisis situations. Dwayne believes in supporting his employees and families as much as possible, especially in their time of need.

It’s estimated that 16 million people have Alzheimer’s disease and that 4.5 million of them are Americans. Aegis Living serves nearly 800 people every day, with this number steadily climbing. They have been actively involved with the Alzheimer’s Association for over 20 years and will continue to be involved until a cure is found.

Diabetes strikes nearly 25% of our residents with nearly 20.8 million children and adults in the United States diagnosed. Aegis residents, families, and employees are affected directly or indirectly by this disease. Knowing that the cure is in site, Aegis generously supports the American Diabetes Association in fighting this disease.

The assistance provided to seniors, Meals on Wheels delivered to those in need, and their oversight of many senior centers in King County are a few of the reasons Aegis is involved with Sound Generations. Aegis employees have also served on the Board of Directors, helped with fundraising and volunteering at local senior centers.

“Give a man a fish, he eats for a day; but teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime,” has always resonated with Aegis. They understand that there are many good people who are only a paycheck away from being homeless, and Aegis is dedicated to helping. FareStart is a job training and placement program for homeless and disadvantaged individuals.

As a young person, Dwayne Clark, Founder and CEO of Aegis Living, had very little means but was fortunate to have been afforded a private school scholarship through his family’s church. That education turned his life around and led him to believe in himself and the things that he could accomplish. Dwayne and Aegis have found Rainier Scholars to be an incredible opportunity to send young, bright, promising inner-city kids to an educationally rich environment. Dwayne feels extremely honored to serve on the Rainer Scholars board and grow great leaders for our future.

Using Art as Corporate DNA

Dwayne has brought in cutting-edge innovations, inspiring workspaces, and curated works of art to bring the Aegis Corporate Headquarters to life. When you walk through the space, it’s easy to see exactly what makes Dwayne’s corporate culture so remarkable. Each painting, sculpture, installation, or antique represents one of the company’s values and issues a call to duty for the employees that pass by.
